Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this week.

  • Virtual St. Mark’s Silent Auction Fundraiser @ online: The annual fundraiser supports St. Mark’s Episcopal Church’s youth group and the Southborough Food Pantry’s fuel assistance program. Take part in the church’s online Silent Auction, Bake Sale, and Basket Raffle. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Library’s Preschool Virtual Story Time (10:30 am – 11:00 am) @ Facebook: Children’s Librarian “Miss Kim” will hold a story time for ages 2-5 (siblings welcome). Each week will feature themed stories on Facebook Live with Ms. Kim! No registration necessary (Note: you don’t have to have a Facebook account to watch the Library’s videos, which are still viewable after the live event is over.)

  • Stretch Break Class for seniors (10:15 am) @ zoom: The program is for current members of Friends of the Council on Aging only. Pre-registration is required. For details see page 8 of the Senior Center newsletter.

  • Creative Writing Club-for Teens & Tweens (3:00 – 4:00 pm) @ zoom: Tweens and teens interested in meeting other writers and looking for ways to foster their own writing are welcome to the Southborough Library’s virtual club for enthusiastic writers. Participation is free but pre-registration is required. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Toys for Tots drop-off for seniors (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Senior Center parking lot: A drive-thru drop off option for seniors looking to donate to the Toys for Tots program. Bring a new, unwrapped gift for ages 1-16 years old. (If you are unable to make this event, you can call to arrange another drop off time.) For details, see dedicated post.
  • Pop-Up Home Decor Sale (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ 1 East Main Street: Realtor Ginny Martin will sell gently used home decor from her staging inventory. Customers are encouraged to schedule an appointment. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Southborough Youth & Family Services. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Cub Scout – Wreaths & Candle Sale (8:00 am – 4:00 pm – weather dependent) @ Transfer Station: Cub Scouts will be selling Christmas wreaths and Hanukkah candles at the Transfer Station again. For details, see post covering last weekend’s sale.
  • Postponed – Santa Day (10:00 am – 12:30 pm): [Editor’s Note: the event is being postponed to December 12th due to the forecast rain.] Santa will ride through the town on a fire truck and after his ride will return to the Public Safety Building to wave and continue spreading holiday cheer. A few favorites will join him at the Public Safety Building, Elsa, Anna & Olaf from the movie Frozen! His ride kicks off at 10 am and upon his return to the Public Safety Building will be out waving at 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. For details, see dedicated post
