Thank you to all the readers (and there were many of you) who emailed to let me know about Southborough resident Gregg Beloff, who was honored at a Boston Celtics game earlier this month. Beloff was chosen as the evening’s Hero Among Us for his work with the Special Olympics.

What a weekend for Southborough brothers Stephen and Korey Dropkin. The pair led their team to a gold medal in the Men’s US Junior Nationals Curling Championship. The win means they now go on to represent the US in the world competition coming up next month in Sweden.

It breaks my heart to bring you this news, although I suspect a good number of you already know. Trottier Middle School seventh grader Eric Green passed away last night at his home from complications of a seizure condition. He was 13 years old.

Southborough lost one of its great residents last week when Dick Upjohn died suddenly at the age of 82. I only knew Mr. Upjohn by sight, but what an awe-inspiring sight he was. He famously rode his bicycle all over town, briefcase strapped to the back. For my part, I would most often see him out jogging along Deerfoot Road, no matter the weather. It’s a sight – and a source of insipration – I will greatly miss.
