Autumn Fair at the Senior Center on Saturday

The Senior Center will hold its annual Autumn Fair on Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The fair will feature craft items, children’s toys and games, a bake sale, white elephant table, jewelry, and raffle items.
All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Council on Aging.

Reminder: Falconi Family Golf Tournament on September 21

The annual Falconi Family Golf Tournament will take place next Monday, September 21 at Juniper Hill in Northborough. The tournament is the biggest fundraiser for the Southborough Council on Aging.

Senior picnic tomorrow with Rep. Carolyn Dykema

Representative Dykema will host her annual Senior Picnic tomorrow from noon until 2:00 pm at the New England Laborer’s Training Center located at 7 Laborers Way in Hopkinton (map).  There will be food, entertainment, and the chance for prizes, including gift certificates from area restaurants.
Seniors interested in attending should contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.

Cordaville Hall to get a new roof, lose some dormers

The Board of Selectmen last week approved a $32K contract to replace the roof at Cordaville Hall (the Senior Center). As part of the work, the four dormers on the back of the building will be removed. The ones on the front will remain.

Tax work-off program full, but there are other ways for seniors to save

Registration opened earlier this month for the senior tax work-off program — a program that lets seniors volunteer at town jobs in exchange for a break on their property taxes. The program is a popular one, and Senior Center Coordinator Pam LeFrancois tells me the spots have all been filled.

According to Pam LeFrancois, director of the Southborough Senior Center, Southborough has about 1,400 residents over the age of 60. About half of them participate in programs and activities at the Southborough Senior Center on Cordaville Road.
