The Southborough Emergency Management Agency is looking for volunteers to join the Community Emergency Response Team and the Medical Reserve Corps. In other words, SEMA wants people to join CERT and MRC. Enough acronyms for you?

CERT and MRC are groups of trained volunteers who assist the town in the event of a major emergency. They also help out with things like first aid and traffic management at town events including Summer Nights and Heritage Day. The groups meet the first Monday of each month. CPR and First Aid training are provided free of charge to all members.

The groups are particularly looking for volunteers who:

  • Have a four-wheel drive vehicle to drive staff to or from work during an emergency
  • Have been Red Cross Disaster trained and would like to volunteer during an emergency.
  • Are an amateur/ham radio operator.
  • Have a special Skill or lend a hand to those in need.

For more information, visit the SEMA website or the CERT/MRC website.
