What to do with your kids

three-little-pigs-1

Rain is in the forecast again today. For those of us with little ones, finding things to keep them occupied and amused this summer has been a challenge.

If you’re looking for some ideas — and a way to save some cash — the library has a whole bunch of discount coupons to area attractions. They have discounts to indoor activities like the Discovery Museum in Acton, the Ecotarium in Worcester, and the Salem Witch Museum, as well as outdoor ones like Davis’ Farmland and Southwick’s Zoo. You’ll find the coupons in the temporary children’s area upstairs.

And if your kids are craving more of an adrenaline rush, the Recreation Department offers discount tickets to Six Flags and Water Country. Just stop by the Rec Department at 21 Highland Street (map) during normal business hours to pick them up. No need to reserve in advance.

Interesting perspective on The Salem Witch Museum…

The study of history allows us to recognize flawed reasoning and the corresponding unfortunate events that are a direct result of said flawed reasoning.

Through this awareness, we (and future generations) will hopefully learn never to repeat the same crimes of humanity. Decisions based on emperical evidence vs gossip and mob mentality is an age old lesson we can all benefit from.
