Still no resolution on Marlboro Road water issue

The DPW came to last night’s Board of Selectmen meeting prepared to present findings on the source of water that flows from Stephen Stanechewski’s property at 126 Marlboro Road out onto the roadway. Public officials say the water freezes on the road creating an unsafe condition for motorists.

But Stanechewski’s lawyer, Robert Dionisi, asked selectmen to continue the hearing for a few weeks so they could conduct their own research.

DPW Superintendent Karen Galligan argued against postponing the meeting. She told selectmen that DPW crews had been called out to Marlboro five times in December to deal with the ice. “We know there’s an icing condition, and we believe we know where it’s coming from,” she said.

But in the end, selectmen unanimously agreed to postpone the hearing until January 26. Galligan said the dispute with Stanechewski has been going on since 1999. “I don’t see a compelling reason why it can’t wait for 3 weeks,” Selectman Sal Giorlandino said.
