The Assabet Valley Mastersigners, a choral group with members from Southborough, Northborough, Marlborough, Hudson, Shrewsbury, Westborough and surrounding communities, will hold open rehearsals for new members in September.

An audition is required to join the Mastersingers. The group says while vocal training is not essential, basic musicianship, a good musical ear, and a dedication and love for the choral classics are a must. The group performs three concerts each year — one in November, one in March, and one in May. They also hold a popular Messiah sing-along in December.

The group was founded in 1978 by former Algonquin choral director Robert Easton. It currently has over 70 members. They rehearse every Monday evening (except Labor Day) from 7:30 to 9:45 at St. Mark’s School in the Class of 1945 Hall in the Performing Arts Center (map).

Auditions will be held at open rehearsals will be held on September 7 and September 13 at 7:30 p.m at the Class of 1945 Hall. You can find more information on the Mastersinger’s website.
