Why flags are at half staff today – Tuesday, November 9

Flags in Southborough and across the state will fly at half staff today in honor of Army Specialist Jonathan Curtis who was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan last week. The Belmont native is credited with saving several other soldiers with his actions during the incident, and was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Specialist Curtis was 24 years old. He leaves behind a wife and 7-month-old daughter.
