Tuesday is the last day to register to vote before Town Meeting

You’re going to Town Meeting, right? Only registered voters get in the door, so if you’re not already registered to vote in Southborough, Tuesday is your last day to do so. It’s also the deadline for registering to vote before town elections in May.

The Town Clerk’s office will be open extended hours on Tuesday, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, to process voter registrations.

Town Meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 11, at Trottier Middle School.

Actually… you can go to Town Meeting as a visitor if you haven’t registered but obviously you can’t vote. At the registration table you have to sign a list ofo those who are not registered (such as department heads who live elsewhere, consultants, reporters, student observers…) and wear a nametag, I believe, to indicate you can’t be counted in the voting. Still I don’t know why someone who could vote would choose to go unregistered… it can get a little tedious and at least the chance to vote, maybe even to stand up, helps to keep us paying attention (don’t dare say “awake”!).
