The Algonquin boys lacrosse team isn’t the only local sports team that will participate in championship play this weekend. After an undefeated season, the Southborough U11 girls soccer team has advanced to the Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) championship on Saturday morning.

The girls qualified for the championship game by besting Concord-Carlisle by a score of 2-0 earlier this week at Kallander Field. The Southborough team will face Franklin in the championship match. The game starts at 9:15 at Wheelock Field in Medfield. You can find more information on the BAYS website (www.bays.org).

With the win earlier this week, the girls extended their winning streak to 28 games, dating back to May 2010.
