Obituary: Winston E. Clark – December 2, 2011

Winston E. Clark, age 87, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2011, at the UniHealth Nursing Home in Fairburn.

He was born in Frankfort, Maine, Dec. 11, 1924, the son of Norman and Marian (Shields) Clark. He served his country in the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant and earning the Bronze Star. After the war, he served as a minister in the United Church of Christ, where he met his wife, Elizabeth.

Rev. Clark was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth A. Clark. He is survived by two brothers, Gerald L. Clark of Hallowell, Maine, and Blaine N. Clark of Augusta, Maine; one sister, Norma J. Bartlett of Haverhill, Mass.; one son, W. Sterling Clark of South Portland, Maine; four stepchildren, Vicki Dion of Newnan, Jamie Buono of Standish, Maine, Timothy Langella of Southborough, Mass., and Richard Langella of Pembroke, Mass.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A committal service, with military honors, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in the chapel of the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
