Obituary: Willis F. McGue – January 18, 2012

Willis F. McGue of Quincy, passed away January 18, 2012.

Beloved husband of 69 years to Marie C. (Finneran) McGue of Quincy. Loving father of Evelyn M. O’Donnell and her husband Joseph of Oak Bluffs, Patricia A. Draper and her husband Richard of Southborough, William F McGue and his wife Judy of Weymouth and Marie C. Pino and her husband Peter of No. Attleboro. Brother of John McGue of Quincy and the late James, Russell and Margaret McGue. Cherished grandfather of Meredith Plizga and her husband Jeff of Attleboro, Tony Pino of San Diego, CA, Steven Pino and his wife Sierra of FL, Gregory Pino of Milford, Christopher McGue of Weymouth and Kimberly Pino of No Attleboro. Willis is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

Willis was born, raised and lived in Quincy his entire life. He was Vice President of Adams & Abbott in Boston for 49 years before retiring in 1981. He was very involved in Sacred Heart church for the past 82 years of his life and was the longest serving usher at the church. He was a member and former Treasurer of St. Vincent De Paul Society at Sacred Heart. Willis was a proud WWII Veteran and often enjoyed sharing stories of this important time in his life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking, cribbage and crossword puzzles. Most of all Willis loved his family. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grand-children were the center of his life.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday from 1-4 pm at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home at 9:15 am on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 10 am. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donation in the memory of Willis can be made to the Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., Quincy, MA 02171.
