Congregation B’nai Shalom invites Southborough residents to an evening of comedy

The folks at Congregation B’nai Shalom on Westborough asked me to pass this along.

Congregation B’nai Shalom is sponsoring a Night of Laughter FUNdraiser on Saturday, March 31, at 7 at the DoubleTree Hotel Westborough featuring 2 of New York City’s brightest young comedians – Dan Hirshon (www.danhirshon.com) and Myq Kaplan (www.myqkaplan.com). A dessert reception, a silent auction with lots of prizes, a basket raffle and a cash bar with fun dessert drinks will cap the fun evening off. Dan Hirshon is the son of Congregation B’nai Shalom members, Arnold and Janice Hirshon of Ashland. Janice is also on the synagogue’s Board of Directors and Sisterhood Co-Chair. Dan is a graduate of Brandeis University. Since taking the spotlight in Boston’s Theater District several years ago Dan has performed at the Boston and Las Vegas Comedy Festivals, co-written and produced the comedy album, Lampshades and Ottomans, and shared secrets about his traumatic childhood with strangers from Maine to South Africa. If you are looking to laugh, then you will love Dan.

Myq Kaplan is a comedian named Myq Kaplan (pronounced “Mike Kaplan”). Myq made his network television debut on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and has since gone on to appear on Late Show with David Letterman,Conan, The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson and in his own half-hour Comedy Central Presents: Myq Kaplanspecial. He was a Top 5 finalist on Last Comic Standing 2010. He was voted 2008′s Best Local Comedian in the Boston Phoenix, and won the NY’s Funniest Standup Competition in 2009.

We wanted to let you know that there’s been a little scheduling change. Steve Calechman will be performing along with Dan Hirshon rather than Myq Kaplan. Steve has delighted audiences and performed in and on every possible conveyance – clubs, colleges, roadside bars, boats, ladders, even a zoo, occasionally appearing with the likes of Louie C.K., Bobcat Goldthwait, Sarah Silverman and Steven Wright. We are thrilled, excited and looking forward to having Steve join us! He was in “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock, has been a correspondent for the New England Patriots online show and is the announcer for the Boston Lobsters tennis team.
