Heritage Day is coming up on Monday, October 8. The Southborough Rotary Club will kick off all the fun on Sunday, October 7 with its annual road race. Proceeds benefit the Southborough Food Pantry and the fight against polio. Find more details below, including information on how to register.

The Southborough Rotary Club is pleased to announce the 36th annual Heritage Day 5K Road Race to be held on Sunday, October 7th, 2012 as part of the Heritage Day weekend celebration. All proceeds from the road race will benefit the Southborough Food Pantry and Rotary’s International efforts in polio eradication. Prizes will be awarded to both male and female running contestants: $150 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third.

Southborough Rotary encourages both runners and walkers, and hopes to get even more of the community involved by walkers, who will follow the 5K route, to sign up as teams. “We invite groups such as town departments, Boy Scout troops, Cub Scouts, Girl Scout, Brownie and Daisy troops, sports teams, kinder groups, families, church youth groups, and neighborhoods to walk together and make 2012 our most successful and impactful race” Rotarian Carl Guyer said.

For those of you who aren’t inclined to lace up a pair of sneakers, you can still do your part by signing up as a virtual racer. Pay the $20 pre-registration fee, and you’ll get a t-shirt and the satisfaction of knowing you helped out a very important cause.

The race starts on October 7 at 10:00 AM at Trottier Middle School. Pre-registration can be done on line at www.eventbrite.com. The fee is $20.00 pre-registration or $25.00 the day of the race. (There is a small fee for online registration of $2.09 per person). For a registration form, download here or email carl.guyer@gmail.com. Registration begins at 8:00 AM the day of the race.

For more information, please feel free to contact our Rotary’s race coordinator, Carl Guyer at carl.guyer@gmail.com. The Rotary has sponsorship opportunities available as well. Please contact Carl for sponsorship forms or download here.
