Obituary: Myra L. Claflin, 80

Myra L. (Farnum) Claflin, 80, of Southborough died on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing and rehab Center in Westborough after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of Ralph Claflin for the past 59 years.

Mrs. Claflin was a 1954 graduate of Framingham State University with a degree in nutrition and home-making. As a wife and mother, she filled many roles; homemaker, church volunteer, cub scout leader, advanced degree seeker, and home healthcare worker. Spending many years of her childhood on a farm, Myra left with a deep love and respect for animals and a hard day’s work. She was an active member of the First Community Church of Southborough.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Steve Claflin and his wife Juanita of Irvine, CA; Jonathan Claflin and his wife Susan of Bradford; 4 grandchildren, Heather Smith of Irvine, CA, Rebecca Hatfield of Wake Forest, NC, Carolyn Claflin of Brockton; Samuel Claflin of Bradford; 2 great grandchildren; Abigail and Stephen Smith. She is predeceased by her son, David Claflin, who passed away in 2003.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 30, from 4 to 6 PM at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough. Memorial contributions may be mad in her memory to First Community Church, 135 Southville Road, Southborough, MA 01772. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 1, at 11 AM at First Community Church, 135 Southville Rd, Southborough. Burial will be private.
