Southborough’s free Summer Concert Series resumes this Thursday, July 18, 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Neary Field.

This week’s act is Soul Custody, promising “Original music with a blend of jazz, funk, Latin, blues, gospel and world-beat influences brought to you by a group of talented musicians who will have you out of your seat dancing.”

The group features Mr. Matthew Cassell of Trottier. Sarah Cassell of Southborough Youth and Family Services will also be joining in for vocals on a few of the songs.

This week, they are highlighting a raffle prize: one week of camp at SkyRise Children’s Theater

Your child will become a part of a team, develop life skills, and learn the value of performing. The experience holds promise for growth, where the shy become brave, the gifted become leaders and where each kid learns that no role is a small one.

400-20130715-summer-concert-soul-custodyProceeds from the sale of raffle tickets, plus pizza, drinks, chips, and candy will benefit the Send a Kid to Camp program.

The concert series was meant to be 2 weeks per month this summer. But it’s had a slow start.

School was still in session the first week. Then the holiday and weather caused a two week delay in the schedule.

Now let’s hope we can get a good turnout this Thursday and cooperative weather for the rest of the summer. (And mark your calendars for 7/25, 8/8, and 8/15.)

Remember, the free concert is on the lawn. So bring your chairs or blankets.

The Recreation Department will be setting up a sprinkler for kids at the concert this Thursday July 18th to help offset the heat. Adults are welcome to run through too if need be :o) Fingers crossed for good weather!
