What’s happening this weekend: Fall Fest, Scouting for Food, Birds of Prey, and a musical parody for kids

Above: This Saturday, children who learned about underground mammals at the library last week might now be interested in meeting some of the birds of prey they hide from, like the red-tailed hawk. (Photo posted to Flickr by Glass_House)

Reminder highlights of what’s happening around town this weekend. For more details and the full list, check the Event Calendar.

Friday, November 1, 2013:

  • Fall Fest (7:00 – 9:30 pm) @ Trottier Middle School: Southborough Youth & Family Services’ festival for 6th-8th graders. Entertainment and activities include a DJ, sports, contests, and concessions. Students can win prizes, hang out with their friends and dance.

Saturday, November 2, 2013:

  • Scouting for Food (9:00 am) @ your mailbox! Place your bagged (or boxed) donations by your mailbox in the morning. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be making the rounds to collect for the Southborough Food Pantry.
  • Birds of Prey (2:30 – 3:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: New England Reptile and Raptor will be visiting the library with Birds of Prey. Children are invited to learn about these birds, as well as see some in person. No registration necessary. Sponsored by Fay School.

Sunday, November 3, 2013:

  • Yellow Tails (3:00 pm) @ Congregation B’nai Shalom, 117 East Main St, Westborough: Sky Rise Children’s Theater presents this children’s play performed by kids, a musical parody of the Ugly Duckling. $5 per ticket (purchase at the door – doors open at 2:30) (This isn’t in Southborough. But I like to include community theater from the surrounding area since we don’t have our own anymore. Interestingly, one of the founders of Sky Rise Children’s Theater is a Southborough Players alum and daughter of the long-time  leader of the former town drama troupe.)
