Summer concert series starts June 19: Free music helps fund “Send a Kid to Camp” (Updated – don’t pack your dinner!)

Southborough Youth & Family Services and Southborough Recreation Department are teaming up again to run their second Summer Music Series.

The goal is to produce family friendly entertainment while supporting an important cause.

Rain dates are now generally scheduled a week later. (Last year, a couple concerts were cancelled by two running days of rain. Let’s hope the sun shines more favorably on this year’s series!)

Concessions will still support Send a Kid to Camp. So skip cooking that night without any guilt. Buy your dinner, snacks and/or dessert while supporting charity.

The first event is scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Neary Field.  Remember to bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs.

Soul Custody will be playing contemporary jazz  for the crowd. The group features Trottier teacher Matthew Cassell. (Their rain date is Thursday, June 26.)

Four more Thursday evening concerts will run in July and August. If jazz isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other genres coming up, including folk, rock, and bluegrass. (Click on flyer below for details.)

If you’d like to directly help the charity, you can make a tax-deductable donation to the Friends of the Southborough Youth Commission online. Mailed-in checks are also gladly accepted.

Or you can support them by buying refreshments to enjoy while listening to great music.

Updated (6/6/14 1:25):  Dinner food will be available!

Updated (6/17/14 4:20): Replaced flyer with updated version with corrected rain date for July 10th show.
