Obituary: Catherine L. (Quirk) Ten Eyck, 86

Catherine L. (Quirk) Ten Eyck, 86, of Westborough and formerly of Southborough, died on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester surrounded by her friends Deborah Baker and Shirley Sheridan.

She was the beloved wife of Arthur G. Ten Eyck, who passed away in 2004.

Born in North Arlington, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Ryan) and Thomas Quirk.

Cathy attended Rutgers University in New Jersey. For many years she was employed by Prudential Insurance and worked in New Jersey, California, Texas and Massachusetts. Upon retirement she and her husband Art, opened Ten Eyck Books, an antiquarian bookselling business out of their home in Southborough.

Cathy was an active member of the First Community Church of Southborough. She was a volunteer at the Southborough Food Pantry and the Southborough Senior Center where she spread cheer and her intense love of people. Cathy loved books and gardening and sharing her joy of both with her many friends. She was also active in the Willows community and participated in the library and greenhouse.

She is survived by her brother–in-law, Harold Ten Eyck and his wife Susan of North Cumberland, PA and Cathy’s nieces Deborah Minnier, Laura Sanders, Rachel Mitchley and Hannah Smith.

A Memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, March 21, at 11 AM at the First Community Church, Highland Street, Southborough. Burial will be private.
