Southborough Recreation has announced three previously unadvertised camps for this summer. While I’m sharing those, I’ll also remind you about some fun camps with rapidly approaching registration deadlines.

The first new camp is a preschooler music program. Hello Music is for 3-4 year olds. It will be held next week a the New England Music Academy in Westborough:

Music lessons have never been this much fun! Students will use keyboards, percussion instruments, and various classroom materials to explore all aspects of music. Classes focus on music form, keyboard discovery, rhythm instruments, singing, and appropriate age music reading activities.

Online registration is due today.

Next up is a Bubble Soccer Clinic for 4 – 8 graders is scheduled for Monday, July 18 to Friday, July 22 from 9:00 am to noon.

Kids will learn a fun way to play the game of Soccer! Watch as you bounce off your friends, roll on the ground and flip as you try and score a goal. It is action packed, exciting and safe! Camp will also incorporate a variety of sports such as, Flag Football, Wiffle Ball, Ulitmate Frisbee.

Finally – for kids who love to run, there is an intro to Track and Field program. Kids on the Run is led by Finn’s very popular Phys Ed Teacher Tom McCabe. It’s sure to be a hit with the age group (K-3rd grade). The camp takes place Monday, August 15 to to Friday, August 19 from 9:30 – 11:30 am at the Trottier Middle School track.

Track and Field is a great sport for children of all ability levels. There is something for everyone! It involves sprinting, long distance running, jumping and throwing. This camp will introduce children to the basic techniques of several track and field events such as the 50 yard dash, hurdles, long jump, turbo-jav, relays, and some longer distance running, as well as play some games. Children will also learn the proper way to warm-up, stretch, and cool-down. Track and Field is a great cross training sport since it develops speeds, strength, agility, power, flexibility, and coordination.

I’ve shared information on the following camps in the past. But given registration deadlines, it’s a fine time to remind you:

  • Minecraft Magic – July 18 to July 22 (online reg deadline 7/8)
  • Making iphone or Samsung Android games – July 18 to July 22  (online reg deadline 7/8)
