Obituary: Marcia Ann (Watkins) Maytham, 78

Marcia Ann (Watkins) Maytham, 78, of Southborough, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2016 surrounded by her family.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Phyllis (Waite) Watkins. Marcia grew up in Framingham, and attended Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill and graduated from Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH.

Marcia was an outdoor enthusiast, possessing an infectious love of life and adventure. She traveled widely and fearlessly to remote parts of the world, hiking the mountains of Nepal, canoeing the Amazon, and biking in Europe. Her enthusiasm for life was first and foremost expressed by her generosity and kindness. Her main source of joy was spending time with her family, friends and dog Beau. She was a loving and devoted mother with a zest for living life to it’s fullest. She embraced all with her warm and kind smile. 

She will be greatly missed by her loving family and is survived by her children, Nici Hornblower and husband Jim Denman of Southborough, MA; Pete Maytham of Chandler, AZ; Margo Muttilainen and husband Eric of Richmond, VT; her husband Peter Maytham of Smithfield, VA; her grandchildren, Heather, Meghan, Kyra, Tyler, Todd and wife Kathryn, Ryan and Rob; her brother, Edward G. (Chris) Watkins and wife Karen; niece Kristina and nephew Curt and wife Rebekah.

She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Carrie.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2PM at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common Street, Southborough, MA.

Burial will be private. There will be no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Marcia’s memory to the Kidney Transplant Fund at giving.massgeneral.org or Massachusetts General Hospital, c/o MGH Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.
