Raising Healthy Children in Challenging Times – Tuesday night

Above: If you’re concerned about the challenges of raising children these days, you may want to attend Fay’s Ideas&Insights presentation by a nationally recognized psychologist

Tomorrow night, Fay School is hosting a presentation by Dr. Rob Evans, “Raising Healthy Children in Challenging Times.” The talk is part of Fay’s series, Ideas&Insights. The free workshops for parents are open to the public.

Tuesday’s talk will “address the challenges that parents face in today’s fast-paced, media-drenched world”. The event site details:

There is no harder job than being a parent. Nothing else touches so much of a person so deeply—or so unpredictably—and there is no training for it. As the pace of life accelerates, as media influences intensify, and as the future grows less predictable, parents and teachers find it harder to be confident—harder to know how to raise competent, caring children, how to resist negative influences in the surrounding culture. Rob Evans will outline these challenges and offer concrete suggestions for successful coping at home and school.

The presentation takes place at 7:00 pm on Tuesday May 2 in Root Meeting Room, on first floor of Root Academic Building.

Dr. Evans is the author of many articles and three books, including Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with The Crisis in Childrearing. He is also a “nationally recognized” psychologist and family therapist:

Robert Evans is a clinical and organizational psychologist and the Executive Director of The Human Relations Service in Wellesley, Massachusetts. A former high school and pre-school teacher, and for many years a child and family therapist, he has consulted in more than 1,700 schools throughout the U.S. and internationally, working with teachers, administrators, and boards, and speaks widely at educational conferences.

No registration is required to attend. Parking will be available at Fay’s East Entrance, at 23 Middle Road.
