The public is invited to an Evening of Jazz at Trottier Middle school. Trottier’s annual Big Band concert provides a community showcase for their talented players. It also offers the band a chance to support a cause. This year, that’s supporting one of their band’s alum.

The Big Band earned high honors again this year. You can hear why at the Thursday, June 15th event. The concert takes place 7:00 pm in the Trottier Middle School auditorium. The guest performer this year is professional jazz singer and trumpet player, Christine Fawson.

Attendance is free, but they will be collecting donations and selling refreshments that night. The proceeds will go to support the Fiore Family whose Framingham based diner was destroyed in a March fire. (Family member Mihlan Fiore was a drummer in the Big Band when she was at Trottier.)

As for the concert, organizers pitch:

The Big Band has worked hard all year and will perform an entire evening of jazz songs that showcase their talents. The Big Band has been a Gold Medal Recipient from 2008-2017 from the Massachusetts Association of Jazz Educators and 5-time winners of the Clark Terry/UNH Jazz Festival.

The Big Band will perform with a professional musician, Christine Fawson! Christine is a jazz singer and trumpet player who is a member of the brass faculty at Berklee College of Music. Christine was a member of Beantown, a high energy R&B band from 2004-2012. Beantown was featured alongside the Black Eyed Peas, Lionel Richie, Earth Wind and Fire and Alicia Keys at the New England Patriots Superbowl parties in 2005 and 2008. She has performed with the band at such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, and Lincoln Center in New York City; and with artists such as Anne Hampton Callaway, John Pizzarelli, Maurice Hines and the New York Pops.
