This month, the Southborough Library is holding an Author Night with Meredith O’Brien. Initially scheduled for this week, it’s postponed due to an unfortunate case of the flu. (Yes, flu season may have peaked but it’s not over yet!)

The new date was just announced as Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00 pm. [Editor’s Note: Another cancellation has since moved the event to April.*] On that night, O’Brien will talk about her most recent book, “Mr. Clark’s Big Band: A Year of Laughter, Tears & Jazz in a Middle School Band Room”.

As I’ve previously posted, the book is based the year the author spent chronicling “the difficult and bittersweet journey of Trottier’s 2012-2013 Big Band and its beloved leader.”

As many readers are aware, the book centers around a middle school band that was deeply effected by the sudden death of one of its members. The author and mother was inspired by the boisterous Trottier teacher’s leadership in helping students heal. You can read more about that here.

The Author Night will take place in the upper level of the Library. The event is free and open to the public.

Updated (3/9/18 1:42 pm): I listed the right date, but initially referred to the wrong day of the week. The event is on a Wednesday.

*Updated (4/22/18 9:18 pm): The event was cancelled that evening when the Library closed early due to reports of an incoming snowstorm. It was rescheduled to April 26th.
