It’s been a few weeks since I shared the Southborough Police Department’s logs and a roundup of police news. (Though, I have shared the Chief’s recent press releases.) It’s time for an update.
Most importantly – Issues that were reported with the national 911 hotlines were apparently resolved across the state. So go ahead and ring 911 directly if you need emergency help. (But don’t do it just to test that it’s really working, please!)
On Facebook, the SPD shared that the Pink Patches this fall were a success:
We are happy to report that the Pink Patch Project that the Southborough Police Department took part in this year, was able to raise $3,861 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The money was raised through the sales of our Pink Patch, which took place during the month of October. A big shout out goes to Officer John Officer for spearheading the Pink Patch Project this year, and for all of the supporters that purchased a Pink Patch from us! THANK YOU!
I already shared the department’s generosity over Christmas, donating toys to children battling cancer. I didn’t share that that the department had a special visitor last month. They posted:
Santa stopped by the Southborough Police Department today, to conduct some follow-up research for his “Naughty” & “Nice” list. Who better to ask than School Resource & DARE Officer Kevin Landry??
The SPD posted appreciation for years of assistance from a colleague retiring from a neighboring town:
We just wanted to take a moment to recognize the retirement of Sergeant Peter Goodney from the Westborough Police Department. Sergeant Goodney has been with the department for over 31 years, and has backed up or assisted our officers on numerous occasions. While he was a K9 Officer for WPD, he and his four legged partner assisted SPD with everything from drug searches to missing person cases.
All of us at the Southborough Police Department would like to thank him for his service, and wish him a Happy and Healthy retirement!
Of course, the SPD can’t just post about rainbows and sunshine.
They warned residents about an “amazon” email scam in the news. Reports I already shared informed the public about the Winter Parking Ban went into effect, complaints of disturbing cards, and Sunday’s armed gas station robbery. In other “law & order” news, Southborough Wicked Local reported that one of the convictions in the New England Compounding Center case was of resident Greg Conigliaro for conspiring to defraud the FDA in his role as a former owner.
And the latest batch of logs covering December 11th-28th include 19 vehicle accidents, 4 reports of Larceny/Forgery/Fraud, and 6 “Criminal Applications” being pressed. You can check out the logs below:
