Events this week: Cooking Chili demo & Kitchen Safety for seniors, Legos at the Library, plus Holiday celebrations and sales (Updated)

Wednesday, December 4, 2019

  • NSPAC General Meeting (10:00 – 11:00 am) @ Northborough Library, 34 Main St.: The Northborough Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council monthly meeting. Topic: Assistive Technology with speaker Colleen Ferguson Followed by informal social/support group will meet after the meeting as time allows. This is an open meeting and all are welcome to attend, however, please use the proper channels to discuss any individual IEP or 504 concerns. For more information see www.nspac.org
  • Blood Sugar Screening (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Special health clinic for Blood Sugar screening – drop by—no sign up needed
  • Exciting Women’s Circle (Senior Center Program) (10:30 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A social group for women through the Senior Center. New members always welcome. The group meets monthly, usually at the Senior Center with occasional field trips. This session: Fun with Questions. We always learn something new about each other.
  • First Wednesday Book Group (11:00 am – 12:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, Main Floor: Please join several community members for a monthly morning book club the first Wednesday of the month. Led by local resident Lyn Forand. Over50andSR@msn.com to join the group.
  • Cooking Chili demo and Kitchen Safety (11:30 am – 12:30 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Southborough Senior Center event. Attendance is free, but it is only open to Friends of Council on Aging Members. (Membership is $15/yr.) Space is limited and registration is required. Southborough Firefighter/Paramedic, Scott Navaroli will demonstrate how to make his award winning Chili. Lieutenant Chris Dano willshare some valuable kitchen safety tips. Sign up at (508) 229-4453.
  • Legos at the Library (3:45 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Public Library, Eaton Room: Children are welcome to come build with Legos, and display their creations in the Children’s Room. Legos will be provided, but all materials need to remain at the library. Parents or caregivers must stay with children during this event.
  • Assabet Showcase/Admissions Night (6:00 – 8:30 pm) @ Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, 215 Fitchburg St, Marlborough: Event for prospective students and parents. For details, see dedicated post.

  • APTO restaurant fundraiser (4:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Panera Bread, 197 Boston Post Rd W, Marlborough: Algonquin PTO’s monthly fundraiser. For flyer and details, see dedicated post.

  • Girl Scout Holiday Sing-along (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Community House Lawn: Event for all families in Southborough with Girl Scouts Kick off your holiday season with an old-fashioned holiday sing-along with some modern touches. For details, see dedicated post.

Saturday, December 7, 2019 

  • Annual Kids Shop (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Woodward School, cafeteria: An annual Southborough tradition. Boy Scout Troop 92 provides a safe haven for kids to do their own holiday shopping for family members without parents’ prying eyes. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Chrismas Bazaar (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main St: Admission is free. Enjoy homemade soups and sandwiches at our Café from 11:30am, and delicious desserts from our Bake Sale. Also featuring the White Elephant, Jewelry, Toy, and Craft Sales, Silent Auction, Games of Chance, and more! Don’t miss the live music or the incredible Basket Raffle, and come visit the Kids’ Activity Area! For details, see dedicated post.
  • Christmas Tree Decorating Party (10:30 am – 1:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Be a part of the Library’s annual Christmas Tree Decorating Party. You can make ornaments, decorate the Library Christmas tree, and enjoy refreshments!
  • Holiday Book Sale (10:30 am – 1:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: The Friends of the Southborough Library are holding a Holiday Book Sale. One free book per child. Stop on by for a wonderful selection of books!
  • Santa Day (12:00 – 3:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s field and Community House: Southborough Kindergroup invites you to the 42nd annual Santa Day! See Santa arrive in his helicopter and land on St. Mark’s Field in Southborough! Then join us at the Community House for lots of holiday fun that includes a fantastic raffle, live music, crafts, movies, face painting and of course the chance to meet Santa and get your picture taken with him!   • Holiday Farm Fairy Village and Tree Lighting (1:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Come build a holiday village for our farm fairies! Farm fairies love the holidays, so we will build them holiday homes and light a tree in a favorite fairy location. Children will build holiday fairy houses, bring them to the base of a holiday tree in the field and create a village for our fairy friends. We’ll have holiday face painting and cookie decorating, plus hot drinks and s’mores for adults and children. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Northboro Area Community Chorus’ Annual Christmas Concert (3:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough: The Northborough Area Community Chorus will be presenting it’s 48th Annual Christmas Concert, “Sounds of the Season”. Stay tuned for details.
  • Handel’s Messiah (3:30 pm) @ Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common Street: The Messiah Community Chorus presents Handel’s Messiah Come ring in the holiday season with this concert event with chorus, orchestra and soloists. Stay tuned for details. For details, see dedicated post.
