The Trustees of Reservations has scheduled special winter events at Southborough’s Chestnut Hill Farm this month. One is an open invitation to follow another “Reindeer Quest” on the trails. The others require registration, including an event geared for kids this Sunday.

Here is their latest listing:

Chestnut Hill’s Reindeer Quest
Daily in December | Sunrise to Sunset
FREE
Grab your snow boots and get the family outside to discover our elusive herd of wooden reindeer found throughout the farm trails! See how many you can find and leave a bell around each one’s neck. This is a self-guided program that runs throughout the month of December; bells and directions can be found at the trailhead parking lot kiosk. Before you go, check out the Chestnut Hill Farm trails map here.

The following special events have limited space and call for signup by 2 days prior.*

Holiday Farm Fairy Village and Tree Lighting
Sunday, Dec 8 | 1-3 pm
Registration is Required
Member child: $24; Nonmember child: $30 (Adults are free)
Come build a holiday village for our farm fairies! Farm fairies and gnomes love the holidays, so we will build them holiday homes and light a tree in a favorite fairy location. Children will build holiday fairy houses, bring them to the base of a holiday tree in the field, and create a village for our fairy friends. We’ll have holiday face painting and cookie decorating, plus hot drinks and s’mores for adults and children. It will be a holiday fairytastic time! (Instruction, assistance, all materials, cookie decorating, and face-painting are included in the registration fee.)

Winter Solstice Celebration on the Farm
Saturday, Dec 21 | 3-5 pm
Registration is Required
Member: $15 (or $28/family**); Nonmember: $25 (or $35/family**)
Join us as we light up the night with a family-friendly Solstice stroll and celebration at the farm. Adults and children are invited to bring upcycled tin cans and join us for a lantern craft starting at 3pm (we’ll provide instruction and the additional lantern-making materials). At dusk we’ll embark upon a guided candlelit walk along the trails that will include presented passages from the story “The Shortest Day” by Wendy Pfeffer. After hiking the trails we’ll gather back in the orchard to warm up by a campfire and enjoy hot chocolate, hot cider, cookies, and s’mores, as we welcome the new season under the stars.

The Farm is also continuing its monthly Book Bugs program for little ones. The December event is on Tuesday, December 10th from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Registration isn’t required but is requested for planning purposes.

*If it is within two days and you wish to register, please email chestnuthillfarm@thetrustees.org or call 508-658-3112 to find out if there is space remaining.

**Family rates for the Solstice Celebration includes up to two adults and three children.
