Food Pantry update: More generous donations and thank yous

Recently, Middlesex Savings Bank announced that it is contributing $5,000 to the Southborough Food Pantry.

The donation is from the bank’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. The bank announced in March that it was establishing a $1M fund to aid local non-profit organizations. In the first two “waves” of funding, the bank donated $280,000 to 11 organizations (including $100,000 to the MetroWest Emergency Relief Fund). The Southborough Food Pantry is one of 30 organizations benefiting from the $150K being granted in the third wave.

In 2019, the bank donated $20K to the Food Pantry as part of $50K donated to charitable organizations in Southborough. (The 2020 round of its annual giving fund donated $20K to Southborough Police & Fire Departments in February.)

With the bank’s news, I decided to check in for an update on other donations to the Southborough Food Pantry.

Last month, the Food Pantry shared an update on Facebook about the funds raised through a local fundraiser held during the pandemic:

A very big SHOUT OUT to Chelsea Bradway and her Front Porch Project taking Photos of Southborough Families during this pandemic.
She has donated all of her proceeds from the Project to those in need in Southborough.
The Southborough Food Pantry received our share of $7,432.00 today from YourCause to help the families who use our Pantry.
A VERY BIG THANK YOU to Chelsea for what she is accomplishing for those in need.

(If you aren’t familiar with the project, click here for more.)

The Food Pantry also gave thanks in June to a Southborough family for a special fundraiser the kids held this spring:

Earlier in the month, they gave the public a glimpse of how their generous donations were being put to use.

Later in the month, the Food Pantry shared a thank you from one of its clients for the community’s generosity:

Please, if you could, thank everyone that has helped us donating money, food, gift cards….
they will never know how much of a blessing this has been to our family.
We appreciate all of you so much.
Our family And our kids pray everyday for everybody that helps/donate to the food Pantry.
YOU ARE A BLESSING .
Thanks for your generous heart.
God bless you.

If you are looking to make a contribution to the pantry, the latest list is here. Donation tubs are at the back door of Pilgrim Church (15 Common Street) on the ramp. (Items are quarantined for safety before being given out.)
