Lewis L. Ogilvie, 78, formerly of Southborough, passed away peacefully at his home in Hollywood, FL, on July 15, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Virginia (McArdle) for over 50 years.
Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, he was the youngest of six children of Cecil C. and Catherine (MacDonald) Ogilvie, all have predeceased him.
Lew and his family immigrated to Newton, where he graduated from Newton High School, and never stopped in his quest for knowledge and attended Newton Jr. College while continuing to work. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity and a past Master of Dalhousie Lodge of Newtonville.
Lew was a manager of Ken Kaye Krafts in Newtonville, then moved in to a successful career in sales at G & S. Paper. Lew and Ginny moved to Southborough where he expanded his territory and made cherished friendships with their neighbors and other Southborough residents. However he always put his family first and kept his customers best interest at heart.
In the 1980’s they retired to Florida to care for his ailing mother in law and aunt. Lew took an interest in real estate and renovated family homes.
Along with being a Mason, Lew was also active in various charities and clubs, including the Hollywood Rotary Club. He was also a board member of the Marti Huizenga Boys and Girls Club, Hollywood Chapter, and involved with the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Memorial Foundation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by many nieces and nephews who adored their “Uncle Lew”.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 25, at 11am at Southborough Rural Cemetery on Middle Road.
