Weekend at a Glance: Santa Day, Gallery Opening and Holiday sales and festivities

Above: This weekend, Southborough’s traditional holiday celebrations and fundraisers are back in person, along with a few new special events.

The first Saturday in December is traditionally jam packed with holiday related fun. This year is no exception. Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this weekend, starting with this evening.

Friday, December 3, 2021 

  • Girl Scout Holiday Sing-along (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Community House Lawn: Event for all families in Southborough with Girl Scouts Kick off your holiday season with an old-fashioned holiday sing-along with some modern touches. Saturday, December 4, 2021 

  • Annual Kids Shop (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St Anne’s Church Parish Hall, 20 Boston Road: An annual Southborough tradition. Boy Scout Troop 92 provides a safe haven for kids to do their own holiday shopping for family members without parents’ prying eyes. While waiting, adults can enjoy a bake sale and coffee.   • Cub Scout’s Wreath & Candle Sale (10:00 am) @ Transfer Station, 147 Cordaville Rd: Southborough Cub Scouts will be selling evergreen wreaths and hand dipped Hanukkah candles. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Christmas Bazaar (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main St: Admission is free. Featuring the White Elephant, jewelry, toy, and craft sales, a silent auction, kids games & actvities, basket raffle, bake sale, and the annual Bargain Box bag sale.   • Holiday Market (10:00 am – 3:00 pm) @ Knights of Columbus Hall, 1Main St: Admission is free. Four local artisans will be selling pottery, natural soap, jewelry, and custom wooden signs/decor. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Drop-in Holiday Tree Ornaments (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Instead of a party this year, the Library will be offering drop-in hours over several days for kids to come in and make ornaments to bring home, give as gifts or hang on the library holiday tree. (No refreshments. Daytime drop in hours will also be offered Mon-Thurs of next week.)
  • Santa Day (12:00 – 3:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s field and Community House: See Santa arrive in his helicopter and land on St. Mark’s Field. Then join him and Southborough Kindergroup at the Community House. Enjoy ornament making, refreshments, caroler and character visits and more before kids share their wishes with Santa while posing for a picture. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Holiday Open Studio (12:00 – 5:00 pm) @ 15 Summit Road: Strung Jewelry Designs and PDB Ceramics. For details, see related post.
  • “JOY!” WCC Holiday Show (8:00 – 9:30 pm) @ Mill Pond School, Westborough: The Westborough Community Chorus (including Southborough members) will perform its annual Christmas Holiday Show. There’s usually some dancing and skits, plus a special visitor. $12 Adult $10 Senior/Children
  • Apothecary Artists Studios and Gallery opening (5:00 – 7:00 pm) @ 1 Boston Road: The public is invited to celebrate the opening of Southborough’s First Downtown Art Gallery & Studios”. For details, see dedicated post.

Sunday, December 5, 2021
