Obituary: John A. Trogolo, 86

John Alfred Trogolo, 86, of Southborough, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Constance “Bunny” (Sharkus) Trogolo, and was raised in Christopher, IL, by the late Ernest and Antoinette (Calcaterra) Trogolo. John graduated from the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for over 30 years for Norton Company in Worcester. John also started a consulting partnership and worked for Massport, building business ties with Asia.

John was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots and remained loyal to the Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois. John loved reading, especially history, LeCarre novels, and biographies. He and Bunny traveled extensively across the world, by planes, trains, cruises and car trips. One of his most precious trips was to his mother’s and father’s home towns in northern Italy to meet relatives. John loved hosting our large family gatherings, enjoyed sharing delicious meals and playing family card games. His big laughter at these family events will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Laura (Trogolo) Gibson and her husband, Peter; Jeffrey Trogolo and his wife, Julia; J. Michael Trogolo and his wife, Kathryn; and step-daughters Allison Moore and her husband, John Loewen; and Holly (Moore) Brown and her husband, Justin. His eight grandchildren, who called him Papa, were the light of his life. From eldest to youngest, they are Heather Ciottone, Meg Trogolo, Meredith Gibson, Amanda Trogolo, Nate Brown, Zoe Trogolo, John Brown, and Violet Loewen. He is predeceased by his son, Kenneth Trogolo.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 13, from 2 to 4pm at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 14, at 10:30 am at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Road, Southborough. For those who can’t join us in person, the funeral Mass service will be live-streamed at https://stannesouthborough.org/live-stream. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.

As a grateful patient and enthusiastic extrovert, he proudly served on the Patient and Family Advisory Council where his work had a positive impact on several hospital initiatives.
