[The Boston Marathon always includes a pack of runners from our town.  Between now and Patriots Day, I’m featuring stories of resident runners donning bibs for a cause. This is the first.]

Southborough’s Lindsay Burke is preparing to run her first Boston Marathon. On her fundraising page, she shared why she is supporting Boston Medical Center:

I am beyond excited to say that I will be running the 126th Boston Marathon on April 18th! Having watched the Boston Marathon in person for most of my life, I am both nervous and eager to tackle this challenge head on. More importantly, I am running to raise funds for the incredible Boston Medical Center!

BMC shows its patients incredible care, approaching care by looking at the patient as a whole, recognizing that much of what impacts a patient’s overall health goes well beyond the scope of traditional medicine. For 25 years, BMC has stood at the intersection of social justice and health care innovation. As a safety net hospital, BMC is committed to providing healthcare for individuals regardless of their ability to pay. It is incredibly important for the community to support and help BMC further their efforts to increase health equity!
