Events this week: Friends of Library HOLA fundraiser, Easter Egg Hunt, and Cook Book Club (Updated)

Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this week.

Monday, April 11, 2022

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center, see newsletter. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Stretch Break Class for seniors (10:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: For details on weekly class, see newsletter.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Join Miss Kim for stories and craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required.
  • Friends of the Library – HOLA fundraiser (lunch and dinner) @ HOLA Restaurante & Tequila Bar: A portion from each pickup order for takeout to The Friends of the Southborough Library – no code needed. [Note: The offer doesn’t apply to in-person dining or to orders through delivery services.] Offer good this Mon – Thurs.   • Youth Writing Club (3:30 -4:30 pm) @ zoom: The Southborough Library is hosting this virtual creative writing club for ages 10-18. The zoom sessions are a fun and supportive space to get creative and build skills with peers. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Tuesday Tech Time (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Need help with technology? Library staff and teen volunteers will make every effort to assist you. Bring questions about ebooks and electronic resources. This is a drop in event; no registrations necessary. Sessions are limited to no more than 1 hour.

Saturday, April 16, 2022

  • Self-guided walk (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Breakneck Hill: The public is invited to explore the Conservation Land trails. Stewardship Committee members will be there to chat. (The day-before-Easter event is titled “You’ve Heard of the Easter Bunny, but are there Fairies at Breakneck Hill?”.) For details, see my post dedicated to Planet Palooza events.
  • Read to a Dog (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library: Children preferably ages 5 and up with some reading ability will read to Bear, a certified therapy dog. Please register in the Children’s Room for a time slot.
  • Kindergroup Easter Egg Hunt (10:00 am) @ St Mark’s School’s field (corner of routes 30 & 85): (Postponed from April 9th due to rain.) The Southborough community is invited to a free egg hunt. Festivities begin with taking photos of kids visiting the Easter Bunny. At 11:30 am, the hunt begins – including for golden eggs to receive a prize basket. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Cook Book Club (1:00 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Lawn: Participants pick a dish from a favorite cookbook and bring it to be enjoyed on the library lawn. All ages and partners welcome. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Easter Sunrise Services (6:30 am) @ Hopkinton State Park: United Parishes of Southborough welcome everyone to participate in the Easter morning sunrise service. (In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at The First Community Church, 137 Southville Road.) For details on other Easter Services, click here.

Updated (4/12/22 4:45 pm): The Stewardship Committee and the Trails Committee are inviting the public to a Planet Palooza event on Saturday at Breakneck Hill from 9:00 am to noon.
