Most of Algonquin’s teams had their season openers last week. Below are results. (Embedded links are for Telegram’s recaps.)
It was a good start for four teams:
- Girls Lacrosse beat Shrewsbury High School 19-10 and Wachusett Regional 11-1
- Boys Lacrosse beat Shrewsbury 10-6 and Wachusett Regional 21-11 (Click here for the Telegram’s photo highlights of the Wachusett game)
Softball beat North Middlesex Regional 14-13 (Click here for Owen Jone’s Photography highlights)- Boys Rugby beat Hanover 33-5 (Click here for Owen Jone’s Photography highlights)
For three other teams, the results were uneven:
- Girls Tennis beat Shepherd Hill 5-0 but lost to Westborough 0-5
- Boys Tennis beat Hopedale 4-1 but lost to Westborough 0-5
- Boys Volleyball lost to Acton-Boxborough 0-3 but beat Leominster 3-0
(Boys and Girls Tennis also traveled to Andover last Thursday. But that turned out to be for a multi-school invitational with no results listed.)
The week was definitely a downer for ARHS Baseball. The Titans lost to Andover 5-6 on Tuesday and then 1-5 to rivals Westborough on Friday. (Click here for Owen Jone’s Photography highlights of the Westborough game.) They’ll hope to turn things around this afternoon when Lincoln-Sudbury visits.
The Girls Rugby team’s opener against Needham was cancelled and listed as a forfit, and weather forced the postponement of Outdoor Track’s meets.
