Covid Update

There's an uptick in the latest stats for our Town and our neighboring county's community level was raised to Medium

The state’s weekly Covid reports were issued last night, so it’s time for an update.

The stats don’t show an alarming rise, but do show a recent uptick.

Last night’s report on Covid cases in Southborough[1] showed an uptick in both the Average Daily Incidence Rate and the positivity rate for tests for the second straight week. 21 residents tested positive in one week and 54 in two weeks.

Although Worcester County’s Community Level was still designated Low by the CDC, Middlesex County was raised to Medium.[2]

[1] State figures are based on results from tests administered during the 14 days ending last Saturday. Since they only include official PCR tests, they don’t capture most cases and are just a way to gauge trends.

[2] The CDC bases Community Level risk on data that includes hospitalizations. Given that the two closest hospitals to Southborough are in Middlesex County (and it borders three sides of our town), I include that data as well.
