Book Clubs for everyone

This month, regular and specialty book clubs are resuming or kicking off for age groups of kids, teens, adults, and seniors.

Above: Here are just a few of the options for joining Book Clubs that are meeting this fall.

The Southborough Library and Senior Center are kicking off special book clubs and reading programs this fall  – some as soon as next week.

There’s a book group for just about every age/level of reader. Options even include a Reading Buddies program to pair beginner readers with teens.

[Note: For tots too young to read, the Library’s story times will resume later this month. You can find that schedule here.]

Below are details on the Reading clubs and programs promoted so far. Unless otherwise specified, groups are hosted by and at the Southborough Library.

Please register or contact Library staff in advance to join. (It’s possible that some of these could fill up and some require advance coordination.)

Cook Book Club all ages

(This one isn’t new and has been meeting over the summer.) You may think of it as more of a cooking club than a book club, but participants do focus on one book to explore each month.

People interested in cooking and trying new dishes are invited to pick a recipe from the month’s cookbook selection to cook and bring to the library to share with fellow participants. Please email your selected dish in advance to Marianna at msorensen@southboroughma.com.

Meets the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 pm upstairs:

Reading BuddiesBeginner Readers and Teens (volunteers needed)

Beginner readers looking for a supportive listener, and teens interested in helping young patrons gain confidence in the reading skills, are invited to the library’s Reading Buddies program.

Readers can bring a book from home or borrow one from the library. Sign ups are required. Young readers and volunteers please email msorensen@southboroughma.com if interested.

Teen volunteers are needed. Space is limited, so please email Marianna at msorensen@southboroughma.com to sign up today. Participants must pre-register in advance so that Reading Buddies can be paired up.

September 15th – October 20th, meets weekly on Thursdays from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in the Childrens and Teen Rooms

[Note: The Read to a Dog program for young readers will also continue this fall. Find those details here.]
