NSBORO survey on student calendar

The survey on the 2023-2024 school year calendar is open through November 4th.

Last month, I shared news that the Northborough-Southborough Public Schools would be seeking community feedback on next year’s school calendar. The Combined School Committees is considering whether and how to schedule around certain religious holidays.

On Friday, the district opened its survey.

The announcement states:

The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough has launched a survey to seek parent and guardian input and feedback on the development of the 2023-2024 Student Calendar. The input and feedback provided will be shared with school committees at the next Combined School Committee meeting, which is scheduled for Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

The district is asking for input on the three proposed calendars. One is modeled after the current calendar. An alternate option would eliminate the observation of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Good Friday. A third version would use two of the holidays as Professional Development days, while allowing school to take place on election days.* You can read more background on the options here

[Note: Rosh Hashanah’s first day falls on a Saturday in 2023, so isn’t actually shown on any of next year’s calendars.]
