Senior Center Nov & Dec special events

Be prepared to sign up for special events like the Veterans Day luncheon, holiday party, and bus trip.

On Monday, registration will open for the Southborough Senior Center’s special programs in November and December. To ensure space for social distancing if needed, many of the events will again have limited space.

Registration opens at 10:00 am on October 31st, Please register by calling 508-229-4453 and connecting live with a staff member, not via voicemail. (For more details on registration and cancellation policies, please see pages 1 & 2 of the Senior Center newsletter.)

For the following four events, registration priority will be given to Southborough residents:

Veterans Day Celebration
Wednesday, November 9th, 12:30 pm

Lunch followed by a flag ceremony in honor of veterans and patriotic concert by the Southborough Songsters. Suggested Donation $6. No charge for veterans and their spouses. (More details on p. 3 of newsletter.)

Magic Show
Wednesday, November 30th, 1:00 – 2:00 pm

An Exciting Afternoon of Magic with Illusionist Lyn Dillies. Suggested Donation $6

From the grand stages of New York City’s Lincoln Center to the glitter of Hollywood, Lyn Dillies has captivated audiences of all ages with her spellbinding powers of prestidigitation. She has been hailed as the finest female magician in the land as well as one of America’s top illusionists. . .

Holiday party for seniors
Wednesday, December 7th, 12:30 pm

Dinner followed by singing and dancing to the holiday music and all time favorites played by the Flashback Band. 

Refreshments will be served after the show. Suggested Donation $6. (More details on p. 8 of newsletter.)

Newport Playhouse Bus Trip
Wednesday, December 14th, 9:00 am – approx. 6:00 pm

The bus trip to and from the Senior Center will take participants on “a lovely trip to Newport’s beautiful Ocean Drive before arriving at The Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant” for lunch followed by a performance of the comedic farce “A Christmas for Carol”.

The following three programs also require pre-registration, but don’t specify resident preference.

Movie Matinee: Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Wednesday, November 16th, 12:30 pm

The free movie screening at will be preceded by an optional lunch at noon. (Bring your own or sign up to buy one for $6 suggested donation.) The movie will be the 1987 Rated R comedy “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” starring Steve Martin and John Candy as travelers struggling to make it home for Thanksgiving. Technology Help for seniors
Tuesday, November 8th, 10:00am – 3:00 pm

Seniors are invited to sign up for a free time slot with a specialist to help answer all your questions and show you tips and tricks to get the most of your devices. Bring your electronic device with you to your session. (Feel free to sign up again if you have attended a prior session.)

Tina Bemis – Holiday Centerpiece Surprise
Friday, December 9th, 1:00 pm

Join Tina for this excellent value, she never knows what decorations will remain. Everyone is always thrilled, though, because Tina always buys too much, and is eager to use it all up. You will leave with a beautiful centerpiece for the Holidays. Suggested Donation $15.
