I have more great save the dates for this summer! This week, Southborough Recreation announced special free and discounted outdoor events being offered in July.

The Town is again participation in National Parks & Recreation month.* Most of the events are family friendly – but not all are exclusively geared to families with little ones. There’s also fun for adults.

Some of these are events that I’ve previously shared in other posts. But some were news to me – like discounted Golf, Face Painting on the playgrounds, and free Yoga.

Unless otherwise noted below, the events are paid for by Southborough Recreation as part of their way of giving back to the community. The funding is possible thanks to other fees collected by Recreation over the year.

*Rec’s announcement explains:

Since 1985, people in the United States have celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote building strong, vibrant, and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation and to recognize the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals — along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers — that maintain our country’s local, state and community parks.

This year’s theme — “Where Community Grows” — celebrates the vital role park and recreation professionals play in bringing people together, providing essential services, and fostering the growth of our communities.

Join your fellow residents in Southborough for a month of free and reduced programming to celebrate and enjoy our outdoor spaces and recreational programming!

Updated (7/19/23 8:06 am) The self-guided Geocaching Scavenger Hunt originally planned for July 23rd is being postponed to a date in August. Details TBD.
