Cooking with Scraps – Virtual Author Talk

The Library is offering a remote talk on minimizing food waste.

The Southborough Library is offering access to a virtual event through a collaboration.* A week from tonight, patrons can hear from the author of a book on sustainable (and frugal) cooking.

The event is free, but registration is required.

Author Lindsay-Jean Hard will speak about her book “Cooking with Scraps” and answer questions about “minimizing food wastage”.

The Library promotes:

Virtual Talk with Lindsay-Jean Hard flyerDo you feel bad about throwing away (or even composting) food scraps that could be used? Well, feel guilty no more! In this virtual program, author Lindsay-Jean Hard will teach us how we can make use of scraps, keep them out of landfills, and still have enough for the compost pile!

Hard’s book is subtitled “Turn your Peels, Cores, Rinds, and Stems into Delicious Meals” and touts recipes for “zero waste cooking”.

The author’s intro points out that the topic isn’t the concept has seen a recent “resurgance”, it’s not new:

People throughout the ages, across lands and cultures, are no strangers to making the most of what they have ¯ think using chicken bonse for stock and stale bread for strata.

The Wednesday, July 26th event will take place 7:00 – 8:00 pm over zoom. You can register here.

*The event is a collaboration with a multitude of MA libraries, sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library.
