Animated Advent, Storyteller, Seed Cleaning, Children's Author visit and more

Merry Christmas. I’m signing off for a long weekend (through Tuesday). So before I list the events for the coming week, below are quick links to other info you may be looking for:

    • Wooden Reindeer at Chestnut Hill FarmReindeer Quest (Sunrise to Sunset through mid-January). The Trustees encourages families to hike the trails at Chestnut Hill Farm to search for elusive “reindeer”. For details, click here.

  • Animated Advent (7:00 pm) @ Pilgrim Church, Fellowship Hall, 15 Common Street: A four week film series will use movies for all ages to highlight an important religious theme. This week’s movie is “Up” for the theme Love. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

Wednesday, December 27, 2023

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Big Ryan the Storyteller (3:00 – 3:45 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Stories & laughter All are welcome and no registration is required. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Gardens that Work: Seed Cleaning (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: The public is invited to join the Library’s pollination preservation garden club to help clean seeds. For details, see dedicated post.

Thursday, December 28, 2023

  • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Author Visit with Susan Lubner (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library, main floor: The children’s author will read from her new book, followed by a craft. Books will be available for purchase and signing and hot chocolate will be served!. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Tech Time (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Teen Room: Weekly drop-in session to get help from a librarian or teen volunteer. Learn about the Library’s apps and databases, get guidance on your devices, and have tech questions answered.

Friday, December 29, 2023

  • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Canasta (11:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.

Updated (12/22/23 4:08 pm): I had mistakenly included Kids Jam at the Library on the 29th. The regular, weekly library programs for little ones are paused until school resumes in January.
