Obituary: Richard Edmond Hurd, 77

Richard Edmond Hurd, 77, of Southborough, died Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA.

He was the son of the late George and Thelma (Arsenault) Hurd and the husband of Lucile (Costa) Hurd, to whom he was married for 45 years.

Raised in Chelsea, Richard started his business of selling and repairing bookbinding equipment for the printing industry in the late 1970’s.

A former member of the Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead, Richard was an avid golfer who also enjoyed spending time outdoors planting flowers and gardening as well as playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his wife Lucy, Richard is survived by his daughters, Tina Ouellet and her husband Daniel of Salem, MA and June Hurd and her husband Yannick Rivard of Drummondville, Canada, his grandchildren, Cynthia, Jesse, Alex and Gary and his great grandchildren, Skylar, Noah and Jonah. He is also survived by his brother, George Hurd and his wife Pamela of AZ and his sister, Patricia Collins and her husband Steve of NY as well as many other relatives and friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:00AM at St. Matthew Church, Highland Street, Southborough, MA 01772.
