[Highlights from last week’s competitions and what’s on tap this week in Algonquin Regional High School varsity sports.]
After eight straight losses, ARHS Boys Lacrosse battled their way to their first win of the season last week.
The Boys hosted Westfield on Tuesday, winning 11-10 in overtime. Unfortunately, they followed by losing both of their travel games — 1-14 to Shrewsbury and 5-14 to Hopkinton. Their record is currently 1-11. MIAA Power Rankings list the Titans as #35 for Division 2.
Girls Lacrosse is ranked 24 for D2. Their record is 6-6 following last week’s 13-10 win over Shrewsbury followed by a 11-19 loss to Hopkinton.
Girls Rugby has yet to win this season — but has far fewer games under their belt. The team is currently 0-4 after losing to Belmont 0-40 last week. The Titans are ranked #7 out of 8 Division 1 teams.
Boys Rugby is currently ranked 3rd place for D2. Their record is 2-1-1 after beating Lincoln-Sudbury 47-7 on Friday. You can see MetroWest Daily News’ Art Tillman’s photo highlights from that game here or in the Instagram post below:

Gonk Baseball has been showing recent signs of improvement. The Boys lost to Bishop Feehan 0-6 on Monday, but followed that by winning their second and third games of the season. They beat Leominster 5-4 and Grafton 5-1. They are currently ranked #44 for Division 1.
Softball followed a similar pattern last week. They lost to Marlborough 5-8 on Monday. But that was followed by wins over Groton-Dunstable (4-3) and Framingham (10-3). That updates their record to 7-5. They are ranked #36 in D1.
Boys Tennis beat Marlborough 5-0 on Monday, but lost 0-5 to Shrewsbury on Wednesday. Their record is now 3-5, and they’re ranked #7 for D2.
Girls Tennis beat Shrewsbury 5-0 on Wednesday and Hopedale 3-2. But prior to that, they lost to Bromfield 2-3 on Monday. Their record is now 6-3. The team is ranked #14 for D1.
Boys Volleyball is ranked #63 for D1 with a 3-7 record. The Boys beat Leominster 3-2 last week, followed by a 0-3 loss to Marlborough.
At the MSTCA Division 2 Relays, the ARHS Girls Outdoor Track & Field scored 2nd place, and the Boys came in 11th. Earlier in the week, the Titans hosted a meet against Grafton. The Girls won 74-67 and the Boys 94-42. You can view the full results here.
Girls Golf* lost both of its competitions last week, 21-33 to Wachusett and 15.5-38.5 to Hopkinton. That updates their record to 2-6 for this season.
