“Rent” on stage — June 12-21st

This week, a local adult theater group is bringing the 90s musical smash to Southborough.

Starting this Friday, the rock musical Rent will hit Fay School’s stage for six performances.

Despite the setting, it’s not being put on by students. It’s a production of A Common Thread Theatre Company out of Framingham.

The company promotes:

The groundbreaking rock musical by Jonathan Larson that premiered in 1996, loosely based on Puccini’s opera La Bohème, follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists, musicians, and filmmakers struggling to survive and create in New York City’s East Village under the shadow of the HIV/AIDS crisis.

The theater company is marketing it as part of their theme: “Bold Stories, Fierce Voices”.

The live performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm on June 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th. Sunday Matinees are 3:00 pm on June 14th and 21st.

The June 20th show will be a special production featuring ASL Interpretation provided by student/recent ITP graduate interpreters.

Tickets are $35 for general admission or $30 for seniors and “youth”. You can purchase them here.
