Obituary: Arthur Ronald Miner, 90

Arthur Miner, 90, of Southborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Boston to Arnold and Irene (Goldman) Miner, Arthur grew up in Mattapan and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School, Class of 1954. In January 1955, he joined the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Macon as an Electrician’s Mate Third Class before his honorable discharge in December 1958.

Arthur married Sheila Astrachan in 1959, and together they raised their two sons, David and Richard. After that marriage ended, he married Carol Crossman in 1975, and together they raised their daughter, Andrea. Arthur and Carol made their home in Southborough in 1976, where they spent the last fifty years together.

Arthur worked at Raytheon in Wayland for 37 years, retiring in 1995. He was equally committed to serving the Southborough community, volunteering for many years on the Personnel Board, Recreation Board, and Finance Committee, and spending two decades as Voting Warden for District 3.

While Arthur was proud of his military service, his career, and his community involvement, his greatest pride was always his family. He took enormous satisfaction in watching his children build meaningful lives of their own and in seeing the family he helped create continue to grow through his grandchildren.

Those who knew Arthur remember a man who looked for the good in every person and every situation. He was thoughtful, generous, and optimistic. He put the needs of others before his own and celebrated the successes of those around him. Arthur made friends wherever he went and was known as a dependable friend, neighbor, and family man who could always be counted on. He built a good life for himself and his family, yet remained humble throughout.

Arthur found joy in life’s simple pleasures: time spent with family, morning coffee with friends, following the Red Sox, and staying connected to the community he loved. He often spoke fondly of his years in the Navy and the opportunity it gave him as a young man to travel, see new places, and experience the world beyond Boston. Throughout his life, he enjoyed being together with family, whether around a backyard barbecue, a holiday gathering, or time spent in Maine enjoying boat rides, lobster boils, and Fourth of July fireworks.

Arthur is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his children, David Miner and his wife Linda Miner, Richard Miner and his wife Corinne Nagy, and Andrea Miner and her husband Jordan Romano; his grandchildren Ashley Miner, Mathew Miner and his wife Samantha Miner, Genevieve Miner, Ethan Miner, Isaac Romano, and Daniel Romano; and many extended family members, friends, and neighbors.

Visiting hours for Arthur will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 5:00-7:00PM at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough, MA 01772. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at Southborough Rural Cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road, Southborough, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Arthur to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 70 Walnut St #301, Wellesley, MA 02481 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
