Maureen J. Vanesian, 92, of Southborough, formerly of Newton and Revere, passed away peacefully in her home on June 19th after a brief battle with cancer.
Maureen was the beloved wife of the late Charles H. Vanesian. Their love story began in 1958 when they met at the Oceanview Ballroom, and they were married in 1960. Together they built a beautiful life centered on family, love, and lasting memories. Their son, Charles F., predeceased her in 2013, along with her husband, Charles H.
She was the loving and devoted mother of Joseph and his wife Paula of Holliston, MA. She was the proud grandmother of Joseph and his wife Lindsay of Providence, RI; Christopher and his wife Joanna of Franklin, MA; and Liam Vanesian and his fiancée Kelly Harrington of Upton, MA. She was also the cherished great-grandmother of Isla, Charlie, Olivia, Catherine, and Callan, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Maureen graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy and spent many years operating her own drapery workroom. She took great pride in her work and treasured the relationships she built with her clients and colleagues throughout the years.
Family was the heart of Maureen’s life. She found her greatest happiness in gathering loved ones together, celebrating milestones, and creating traditions that will continue for generations. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love made every family occasion special.
An avid knitter, Maureen enjoyed spending time at the senior center, where she formed friendships, participated in knitting groups, and especially looked forward to the annual craft fairs. She lovingly created countless handmade gifts for her family, and her “Gigi Originals” became treasured keepsakes worn proudly by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren alike. The blankets she knitted with such care continue to provide comfort and warmth to those she loved most.
Maureen also cherished her vacations in Florida, where she built many close and lasting friendships over the years. She loved spending time in the sunshine, sharing laughter with friends, and creating wonderful memories that she carried with her throughout her life.
Maureen will be remembered for her generous spirit, her creativity, her infectious smile, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through the family she adored, the friendships she nurtured, and the many lives she touched with her kindness.
A funeral service will be celebrated Monday [June 22, 2026] at 5:00PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home Monday [June 22, 2026] from 3:00-4:45PM prior to the service.
