The last Algonquin team still competing in Division playoffs isn’t purely and Algonquin team. It’s the regional co-op Girls Hockey team hosted by ARHS.

The team includes players from Algonquin, Hudson, Marlborough, Nashoba, Clinton and AMSA.

The Girls are still battling it out in Division 2 playoffs. For the right to play in the Final Four, the #10 team needs to beat #15 Winchester* in the Round of 8. That’s this Saturday, March 12th at 5:00 pm at Northstar arena in Westborough.

ARHS may seem to be the favorites, but Winchester managed to beat #2 Braintree 2-0 last night.

As for the Titans’ prowess, they overcame upper seed #7 Westwood 2-0 in last night’s Round of 16. The Telegram recapped:

Mallory Farrell scored in the first and third periods to lift the 10th-seeded Titans (16-3-2) in a Division 2 second-round game at the Ice House in Canton.

According to a Metrowest Daily News story earlier this winter, Farrell attends Marlborough High. And Emily Johns (who scored 2 of the 3 goals against Mantignon in the Round of 32) hails from Clinton.

Of course, winning isn’t just about scoring. The school can boast that the Titan’s star goalie is an Algonquin senior.

Lana Pacific has been credit with some great saves this season. In the 21 games so far, opponents have only scored 22 times. In covering the team’s prior win over Matignon, Community Advocate wrote about Pacific’s and teammates’ preparation and success here. (So far, I can’t find any detailed coverage of last night’s game.)

To attend Saturday’s game purchase tickets online. For instructions, see the Athletic Department’s tweet below:

*An interesting side note – Winchester is also going through rebranding. What would have been a Tomahawks v Sachems face off in 2020 is now Titans v Red & Black.
