Congrats to Southborough’s Boston Marathon runners

I’m a little behind, but wanted to follow up on Southborough community’s participation in the 2026 Boston Marathon.

A big congrats to everyone who finished the tough run!

While 18 Southborough runners were registered, apparently four of them didn’t make it to the starting line on Monday. For those that did run, I’m highlighting the top three finishers, with a special spotlight on first place.

In his first Boston Marathon, 25 year old Grant Gattuso was the 208th runner to cross the finish line, with a time of 2:27:14.

In second and third place for Southborough were marathon repeat runners:

  • Matthew Vogel (#5878, with a time of 3:00:06)
  • and Dianna Bell (#10479 with a time of 3:15:45)

A comment from Gattuso’s father informed me that his son wasn’t the only twentysomething running who grew up in, or went to school in Southborough. I added four names he shared to the list of runners.

Here’s the list of other Southborough participants in the order they finished:

  • Kathryn McCarthy
  • Yun Gao
  • Nicholas Haugen*
  • Bryn Coghlin
  • Katie Hartigan
  • Joe Laursen
  • Kerrie Verbeek
  • Matt Amedeo
  • Elyse Venne
  • Penelope Hauck
  • Elizabeth Debroczy*
  • Halle Zides
  • Madhura Gosavi*
  • Grace Bellefeuille*
  • Andy Brookes (Brookes didn’t earn an official “overall place” in the race, but he persevered past the 6 hour cutoff to cross the finish.)

*Also, a kudos to the four runners that were part of fundraisers this year. They raised over $38K for good causes. (For a reminder, you can find their details here.)
