It’s all about trucks at the Fire Department
Earlier this month I wrote about Southborough’s only ladder truck being out of commission. Now the Fire Department has recommended the purchase of a new 100-foot ladder truck to the Board of Selectmen. The ladder truck they recommend, known as a quint, is equipped with a pump, water tank, hoses, aerial ladder and ground ladders. Southborough resident’s discovery makes troops safer
While on tour in Iraq, Southborough native Jason Cox developed a technique for detecting improvised explosives that uses infrared imaging. The technique allows troops to identify roadside bombs from a safer distance. Cox was recently honored for his work with the US Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. I’m always surprised by how many business are headquartered in Southborough. One that was featured in the news recently is Protonex Technology Corporation on Northborough Road. They just got a $400K contract with the military to adapt their fuel cells to run on fuel types used by the military.
