Selectmen lend support to new police station
The Facilities Committee briefed the Board of Selectmen Monday night on options for a new police station. There are two on the table. Option 1 would construct a new 1-story building behind and adjoining the existing Fire Station. At over 12,000 square feet, preliminary estimates have the project coming in at $7.1 million. Southborough backs Obama
Southborough played it’s part in this historic election by backing Barack Obama with 56% of its votes. McCain got 42%, and the remaining 2% went to third-party candidates. The Southborough numbers for Obama were a bit lower than the statewide average of 62% (as of this morning with 97% of precincts reporting). Property taxes are on the rise
The Board of Selectmen last night voted to approve a 9% increase in property taxes for fiscal year 2009 (07/01/08 – 06/30/09). That works out to an average increase of $648 per family. Property taxes are based on real estate valuations.
